Circular IT & SunscreenIT Donations

Give your surplus IT a second life – sustainable, secure and socially impactful.

Reuse. Rehome. Respect.

Delivered through CiLifecycle, and in partnership with SunscreenIT, your redundant hardware becomes a force for good, extending device lifecycles, reducing environmental impact, and providing communities, charities or educational groups with refurbished devices. We manage sanitisation, refurbishment, compliance and redistribution to deliver sustainable, socially responsible IT asset lifecycle closure.

Overview

Secure IT Redeployment & Donation not disposal

Through our redeployment service, eligible hardware is audited, securely wiped, refurbished and reassessed for continued use. Instead of disposal, devices are re-imaged and made ready for reuse, either inside your organisation for lower priority tasks or externally via donation to verified non-profits, educational institutions or charitable organisations. This helps extend asset life, reduce replacement spend, and cut the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new equipment. You also retain visibility of what was reused, redeployed, donated or retired, supported by item-level records.

Our SunscreenIT initiative oversees donation logistics. Hardware is handled responsibly, data erased to certification standards, and all assets are tracked, ensuring both security and compliance even when refurbished devices leave your organisation’s control. Where required, we can align reporting to internal governance needs, including audit trails, certificates of final recipient outcomes.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of hardware qualify for redeployment or donation?

Devices are considered for redeployment or donation if they are in serviceable condition and can be used safely and reliably. This commonly includes laptops, desktops, monitors and some peripherals. Suitability is confirmed after inspection and testing.

All data-bearing components are sanitised before any reuse or donation. Certified data erasure is used where appropriate, or physical destruction is applied if the risk profile requires it. Verification records are retained as evidence.

Donations are routed through SunscreenIT programmes to organisations that support digital access, such as charities, schools and community groups. The recipient route is managed to ensure devices are placed where they will be used.

Yes. You receive sanitisation evidence for the devices processed, and documentation confirming the donation route, where applicable. This supports audit and ESG reporting requirements.

Assets that are not suitable for reuse are routed to secure disposal. Data is sanitised or destroyed as required, then equipment is processed responsibly for recycling with recorded outcomes.

Yes. Assets are segmented by condition and data risk, then routed to the most appropriate outcome. This can include redeployment, donation, remarketing or recycling, based on agreed policy and controls.

Reuse and donation extend device life and reduce waste. Reporting can show outcomes such as reuse rates, landfill diversion, and estimated carbon savings from refurbishment and redeployment, alongside recycling and material recovery results.
